What Does a Future-Fit Nonprofit Look Like?

What if the way we've always done things isn't the way we need to do them in the future?

Nonprofits are navigating a changing world. Funding is increasingly uncertain, community needs are growing and becoming more complex, and the expectations placed on organisations and their leaders keep increasing. Yet many of us are still working within structures, funding models and ways of leading that haven't changed much.

At our last Reimagining Nonprofit Leadership kōrerorero, we asked what happens when the money doesn't match the mahi. When I asked participants where they'd like to take the kōrerorero next, the majority chose future-fit nonprofits.

So that's what we're exploring together this month.

What might our organisations look like if we stopped assuming the way we've always operated is the way we have to continue?

We'll explore questions like:

• What does being future-fit actually mean for a nonprofit?

• Which assumptions about how we organise, lead and govern might be holding us back?

• How might we work differently to become more adaptable, collaborative and sustainable?

• What might we need to stop doing, start doing or completely rethink?

This isn't your usual webinar

I'm not coming along with a presentation about the five things every nonprofit needs to do to become future-fit. And I certainly don't have a crystal ball (more's the pity).

Instead, this is a facilitated kōrerorero where we can share experiences, question some of the things we've come to accept as normal, hear what others are trying and imagine what might be possible.

We'll spend time in small groups and together, learning from each other's experiences and perspectives. You don't need to have the answers or even know what a future-fit nonprofit looks like. That's what we're here to explore.
