Relationship-Centered Design

Event description

Relationship-Centered Design may be the final frontier of the workplace. As children, we are asked, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” We are not asked, “who do you want to work with when you grow up?” - despite the well-known fact that people don’t leave bad jobs, they leave bad bosses. Many of us spend more time with our colleagues than we do our own families. When we apply for jobs, we get a job ad and job description full of tasks - it tells us nothing about the people with whom we will work. Job interviews don’t usually make us any wiser about who we will be working with either!

Should our colleagues be our friends?

Why are you so attached to your manager?

How might slow-hire approaches help build flourishing teams?

How might we eliminate interview blind spots?

Key Takeaways

  • How Relationship-Centered Design is the future of the workplace
  • How a slow hire approach can prevent relational problems in the workplace
  • How we bring our own family of origin to work without realizing it
