Event description

Join the Relationships, Sexuality and Education Project for this after-school professional development webinar with Chalice Foundation. This is a free and online event. The webinar will be recorded for you to view at a later date if you are unable to attend live.

About Chalice Foundation: The purpose of the Chalice Foundation is to challenge negative cultural norms and provide quality, positive, broad and evidence-based menstrual education for all settings and groups. Chalice Foundation have been running Celebration Day for Girls (CDG) and Fathers Celebrating Daughters (FCD) programs since 2000, and more recently Foundations of Menstrual Education (FOME) for educators. Jane Bennett is the creator of CDG, has a background in Social Work and Natural Fertility Management. Jane is the author of About Bloody Time, A Blessing Not a Curse, and other related publications. CDG and FCD are run in schools and in the community and are now available in 29 countries and six languages. CDG is for girls and other young people who are menstruating or will menstruate 10-12 years old.

About the workshop: The webinar 'Positive and comprehensive menstrual education (for everyone) is key to healthy sexual development' will explore the benefits of quality menstrual education and how this provides an important basis for healthy sexual development, in those who will, or do, menstruate and those who will partner with, befriend, work or study with, those who do. Using research findings and qualitative data we will also explore the impacts when quality menstrual education and a menstrually supportive environment (practically, emotionally and socially) is not provided.

About The RSE Project: Based at Curtin University, The RSE Project provides a range of professional development opportunities to Western Australian schools (K-12) in the area of relationships and sexuality education (RSE). Our training aligns with the Western Australian curriculum and is suitable for all school sectors. Our focus is on supporting teachers (both pre-service and in-service) to deliver RSE in schools. As we strongly advocate that schools embrace a whole-school approach to RSE, we are keen to also support school administrators, support staff, community health nurses and others who work in schools.
