About Legal Aid WA: Legal Aid WA provides free or low-cost legal services to the community. We assist with Criminal, Family and Civil Law matters. In our Community Legal Education team, we have lawyers that specialise in both criminal and family law and regularly work with young people navigating the criminal justice system. Our R U Legal Program is delivered to primary and high schools across WA and aims to educate and empower students through interactive presentations on rights and responsibilities of young people with respect to the criminal justice system.
About the workshop: R U Legal is a program delivered by Legal Aid WA’s Community Legal Education and Training team. They are made up of criminal and family lawyers with a wealth of experience assisting adults and young people with their legal issues. This webinar will provide an interactive and fun overview of Australia’s laws with respect to Sex and Consent, Sexting and Image Based Abuse and the potential consequences these laws can have for young people. This is an opportunity to learn about how the criminal justice system relates to young people and where they can go to access help. It is also a great chance to ask our criminal lawyers your burning questions for free!
About The RSE Project: Based at Curtin University, The RSE Project provides a range of professional development opportunities to Western Australian schools (K-12) in the area of relationships and sexuality education (RSE). Our training aligns with the Western Australian curriculum and is suitable for all school sectors. Our focus is on supporting teachers (both pre-service and in-service) to deliver RSE in schools. As we strongly advocate that schools embrace a whole-school approach to RSE, we are keen to also support school administrators, support staff, community health nurses and others who work in schools.
