Beyond Basics
Event description
REMAKE SESSIONS // BEYOND BASICS
The Remake Sessions are all about getting hands-on, building confidence, and rediscovering the joy of making. Hosted at Honey Bones Gallery in Brunswick, these workshops are a space to slow down, experiment, and reconnect with your creativity through sewing, upcycling, and repair.
Each session focuses on a specific skill—whether you're learning to sew for the first time or refining techniques to transform and extend the life of your clothes. These workshops go beyond just practical skills; they’re about exploring your personal style, making sustainable choices, and feeling empowered to express your creative voice. With Little Homey Café next door fuelling your creativity, the Remake Sessions are a space to dive in, get creative, and make something uniquely yours.

Ready to take your sewing skills further? The Beyond Basics workshop explores new techniques for upcycling and repair, with each session focusing on a different skill—machine darning, various hemming techniques, creating darts, and sewing fastenings like buttons, buttonholes, and zippers. You'll also learn simple repair methods such as patching, reinforcing seams to breathe new life into your garments.
Perfect for those who upcycle their clothing and want to expand their skills or anyone looking to refine their sewing practice.
In this 1-1.5-hour session, you’ll learn:
- A key sewing technique to refine your skills
- Practical methods for upcycling and repair
- How to approach garment transformation with confidence
All materials and sewing machines are provided. You are invited to bring along your own garments and creative folio to document your work, ideas, and creative journey throughout the Remake Sessions. Extra folios will be available to purchase on the day.
We recommend having basic sewing machine knowledge or attending our Back to Basics class before joining this session.
