Description

The Bluestone Ensemble brings a program that explores how composers across centuries have drawn inspiration from folk traditions and Renaissance music to create works that speak to their own time. From Warlock's reimagined Renaissance dances and Vaughan Williams' transformation of a sixteenth-century hymn tune, to the folk-inspired voices of Ukraine and Norway, each work reflects a unique connection to cultural heritage. The program also features Violin Armada by local Melbourne composer George Barsoum, demonstrating how these enduring traditions continue to inspire new musical voices today. Together, these works celebrate the power of traditional music to unite the past and present across cultures and generations.
