Rendezvous - Spring Soirée

The season of fresh blooms is upon us and for this iteration of Rendezvous, we present you -'Nat Wendell' for his first ever show on the Gold Coast & debut tour of Australia.

This Spring we bring you yet another international heavy hitter. This time, the soulful, goove-master, Nat Wendell, all the way from Berlin. On support, we've called in the big guns with French native, Paradiso Music Room resident, exquisite selector and vinyl slinger, 'Frumosul', along with your trusted Rendezvous DJs. As always, the sonic senses will be Hi-Fi powered by our very own, 'Sensei Signature Sound'. 

Nat Wendell (Berlin) 4hr Set

Nat is a seasoned DJ and producer with a profound connection to his core sound and he is one of house music’s true exponents. Uniquely his, Nat has left an indelible mark on a world of electronic music, so often bereft of the essence of groove - the same groove that now regularly sparks the dynamic atmosphere of sort after venues including Berghain/Panorama Bar, Heidegluhen and Sisyphos in Berlin. His mission, since 1998, has been the same. To captivate audiences with his unmistakable sense of swing.

His musical upbringing in the melting pot of cultures that is London has been the catalyst for his sonic identity and his very first record purchase, 'Snap - The Power', proved to be a powerful harbinger of things to come. Immersed in the diverse Caribbean culture with its roots in gospel, dancehall and soul, he developed a keen appreciation for the rhythmic intricacies of records. The influence of London's sound-system culture is evident in his signature garage groove, though so too is the pulse of New York's 90’s house culture - from its intricate tempo to its powerful soul.

A move to Berlin in the 2010's saw releases on essential labels including 'Courtesy of Balance', 'thisisnegentropy', 'King Street Sounds', as well as his very own imprint 'Depths of My Soul'. His most recent release sees a collaboration with absolute house music royalty, 'Robert Owens'. On the dancefloor, Nat’s penchant or snapping grooves and desire to connect with the audience on a deeper level become an invitation to embrace the moment, surrender to the rhythm and experience the magic.

Nat Wendell continues to evolve into a maestro of sound, crafting a unique sonic journey that is deep, soulful and undeniably groovy. His music is now taking him worldwide, from celebrated festivals such as Dekmantel and Fusion, to tours all over Europe, North and South America, as well as to the hallowed floors of his very own inspiration, New York City. This is a testament to the fact that his sense of swing has and will continue to, withstand the test of time.

Frumosul

Originally from France and now based in the Northern Rivers, Frumosul has been shaping his sound and energy within the local scene for many years. Passionate about having wax playing 24/7, he opened 'Mamamouchi'. This audio room and barber shop in Lennox Head is his way to unite profession and passion. Behind the booth, his sets are always vinyl-led and move fluidly through downtempo, italo, house, and quicker-paced grooves, whilst keeping always things balanced between depth and energy.

Whether it's warming up the room for the likes of Marcellus Pittmann or CC:Disco or playing peak time sets as a resident at the famed Paradiso Music Room, his ever so thoughtful and careful selections consistently connect with the audience and dancefloor.
