Fit to Rent: Healthy homes in hot summers | Renters Panel Discussion Parramatta (Sydney)
Description
Renters need more energy efficient homes. Join Renew and Sweltering Cities in conversation as we discuss our research on Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards for Rentals, and how renters can keep their homes cool through the summer.
Owner-occupied homes are more energy efficient than rental properties, and without Minimum Energy Efficiency Rentals Standards (MEERS), there are not enough incentives for rental providers to improve their investment properties. You put an air conditioner into a rental home, but without better insulation, your bill goes up, and a lot of renters can’t afford to cool their houses down.
Renew and Sweltering Cities will share their top tips for making rental properties more comfortable.
Bunul Marray (the Dharug calendar’s hottest season), or summer, is right around the corner. Join us to help advocate for MEERS, and find out what you can do, at home and in the community.
Light lunch, tea and coffee provided. Doors open from 11.45am.
