Description

Far too many New South Wales renters are living in homes that were never designed for today’s climate, especially with the heatwaves that are becoming more frequent and intense. That means homes are uncomfortable, unhealthy, and too expensive or impossible to properly cool and heat.

Renters can’t insulate a ceiling they don’t own, they can’t install solar on a roof that isn’t theirs, and so they bear the brunt of the discomfort and the power bills, while the upgrades sit outside their control.

Join Renew and Sweltering Cities in conversation as we discuss our research on Minimum Energy Efficiency Rental Standards (MEERS).

Renew and Sweltering Cities will also share tips for making rental properties more comfortable.

Bunul Marray (the Dharug calendar’s hottest season), also known as summer, is right around the corner. Join us to help advocate for MEERS, and find out what you can do, at home and in the community.

Free event. Light lunch, tea and coffee provided. Doors open from 11.45am.
