Renters' Rights Night

Have you ever been asked to pay a rental increase or been denied repairs at your rental property? It is hard to know how to negotiate with real estate agents and landlords on renters' issues. Information about renters' rights and responsibilities can be difficult to track down. This event is for all renters looking to learn more about their fundamental rights, and will give practical information to help navigate the Sydney rental market.

Join us on Wednesday, 21st of May to hear from the Marrickville Legal Inner West Tenants Advice and Advocacy Centre and stay for a Q & A session at Greenhouse Studios, in Petersham. Content will include:

• tenants’ rights and responsibilities 
• how to navigate conflicts with landlords, 
• arranging repairs, 
• responding to rent increases,
• breaking leases,
• getting your bond back and
• new rental laws coming into effect May 19th

Time and duration 

This event will run from 6.30pm - 8pm, total duration 1.5 hours, including a break and Q&A session. Doors will open at 6pm to give you time to arrive comfortably.

Location 

The event will be Greenhouse Studios, in Petersham. Greenhouse Studios Sydney is a multifunctional arts and environment space in a beautiful converted church hall on Gadigal and Wangal Land. 

Accessibility

The hall has a ramp, however, the bathrooms are not wheelchair accessible

Transport

Located near public transportation options, including a 5-minute walk to busses on Parramatta Rd and a 15-minute walk to Stanmore Station. There is a free council car park at the rear of the building, as well as on-street parking.​
