Repair & Embellish (Stitching with Purpose) with Tracey (Natimuk Wellness Project)
Event description
📍Location: Boardinghouse Studios, 117 Main Street, Natimuk
Workshop Description:
A relaxed and creative 3-hour workshop exploring the art of visible mending and decoration.
Repair & Embellish draws inspiration from traditional techniques like Japanese Sashiko and Indian Kantha, using the simple running stitch to repair, reinforce, and decorate worn or damaged garments.
Whether you're patching a beloved piece of clothing, adding new life to fabric scraps, or working with your own hand-printed textiles from earlier workshops, this session is all about celebrating the beauty of imperfection. You'll learn how to upcycle with intention.
Perfect for beginners, this workshop encourages sustainable creativity and personal expression through hand-stitching.
What’s Included:
All basic materials will be provided, but you're welcome to bring along garments or fabric you'd like to repair or embellish.
Tracey Skinner has a long background in the arts. Her early days were spent as a performer, as a vocalist and dancer but studied fashion, textiles and screenprint alongside this throughout most of her life both in London and Australia.
She has worked as a costume creator and operated independently as a textile artist running a studio and selling bespoke work in shops and markets intermittently over the years as well as running a variety of workshops.Â
She loves all things textiles (her stash threatens all available storage space), she does collect vintage like it’s going out of style, has a penchant for chairs and is an absolute sucker for anything printed.
She now works as an arts administrator and producer and is the owner operator of the boardinghouse studios, which incorporates ArapilesFlow Movement Studio where she runs Pilates classes.
Art and Movement.
