Sun, 16 Feb, 3:30pm - 6:30pm AWST

Event description

I’m so glad you are able to join me for this workshop!

Over 3 hours you will create unique repeat patterns using stamps that you will carve from lino.

Repeat patterns are used in art and fashion. A single stamp can be stamped adjacent to the next to create a repeated pattern. A continuous pattern is stamped repeatedly but it can be designed in a way that is tricky to see where the pattern starts and ends.

What to expect:

  • You will be given a 9 x 15cm piece of lino and from that you will create 2 stamps that you can use on paper, cards or fabric (in this class, we will be printing on paper).

  • You will be guided on how to use lino carving tools and printmaking inks to create your own unique design that you will want to frame! The nature of my classes is quite intimate (up to 6 students per class) and I will be teaching and guiding you throughout the class.

  • You will sketch your ideas and I will show you how to create a simple repeat pattern and a continuous pattern. You will then transfer your design onto a lino plate

  • Once you have carved your stamp/s, you will then print your designs onto paper so you have pieces to take home.

  • Most of this class will be spent on the printing process, as opposed to my "Inner Warrior" and "Slugs & Bugs" lino printing workshops, where the focus is more on the drawing and the carving.

  • My aim is to educate and empower you to create something you will be proud of.
  • No prior experience necessary, all you will need is enthusiasm and a fun attitude.

BYO refreshments. If you choose to BYO alcohol, please be responsible and limit your consumption to 2 drinks as we are using sharp lino cutting tools and you will likely be driving home. The focus is on the art.

Please arrive at 3:15pm and we will start the class by 3:30pm. We will finish the class by 6:30pm.

Getting there:

Stackwood is located on the corner of Stack and Wood Streets, Fremantle (White Gum Valley). Please park in the main carpark if there is room, or on the street. From the carpark, walk down the left side of the building and access via the side door.

This class is for 18+ students only.
