Report Launch - Regenerating the Regions: Principles and Pathways for Thriving Regional Food Infrastructure (Government)
Description
Communities in your region are starting to organise around local food infrastructure: shared kitchens, aggregation hubs, shorter supply chains. Many will eventually knock on your door.
Done well, these projects don’t compete with your priorities, they support them. Local jobs, small business growth, supply chain resilience, tourism activation and stronger community networks are all outcomes councils are already working towards.
Drawing on decades of experience, Food Connect Foundation’s new guide, Principles and Pathways for Thriving Regional Food Infrastructure, walks communities through the process of establishing these facilities, from vision to funding and viability. This online session is for the people they’ll be talking to - to share what they may plan or ask, and find out what will make it work even better for your region.
What we’ll cover:
A short overview of the guide, and what makes regenerative, regional food infrastructure different
What your community may see or ask of you, and the levers councils have to make it work (planning, procurement, land, funding, convening)
Your questions - where councils see the barriers, risks and opportunities
Who it’s for
Local and state government representatives and staff - particularly in economic development, planning, sustainability, agriculture, small business, procurement and regional coordination.
