Event description

Part 1: Webinar - An Introduction to the Reportable Conduct Scheme

What is the Reportable Conduct Scheme?

The Reportable Conduct Scheme (the Scheme) was introduced in response to the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Abuse. The purpose of the Scheme is to make Western Australian children safer.

The Scheme compels heads of organisations that exercise care, supervision or authority over children to notify allegations of, or convictions for, child abuse by their employees to the Ombudsman and then investigate these allegations. The Ombudsman will monitor, oversee and review these investigations.

What will this information session cover?

This information session will provide a general overview of the Scheme, including:

  • legal responsibilities of the head of an organisation
  • types of reportable conduct
  • types of employees subject to the Scheme
  • notification process
  • investigation, exemption and suspension processes
  • what happens after an investigation

*Please note that attending Part 1 is a pre-requisite for attending Part 2: Reportable Conduct Investigations Workshop (scheduled for 3 July 2025).

Who should attend?

This information session is open to local government personnel who are involved in the investigation of child safety matters, including CEO’s, governance and human resources professionals and those in community development and child focussed roles.
