    Event description
To acknowledge Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month this May, Children by Choice is hosting an online lunchbox session that aims to shed a light on reproductive coercion and abuse (RCA) in the Australian sexual and reproductive sector. This event will feature Chief Executive Officer of Children by Choice, Jill McKay, and Senior Team Leader, Christy Fischer, to discuss what RCA is, how it can be used as a tool to restrict the autonomy of women and pregnant people, what it looks like in health systems and communities in Queensland, as well as how RCA is intrinsically connected to domestic and family violence via perpetrators or systemic barriers to access. This event will explore how health practitioners can embed compassionate reproductive justice into care by acknowledging and screening for RCA.

About Jill McKay: Jill has over 17 years of leading high-performing teams in the not-for-profit sector. She has a sound understanding of feminist practice and champions women in the workforce. Her most recent position was as a Director of Working Women Queensland Basic Rights QLD leading a team of 14 multidisciplinary professionals while reinforcing and upholding a feminist model of service delivery. Her experience cuts across Leadership, Management, Program Design, Training and Facilitation, Lobbying, campaigning, fundraising, governance, and data analysis.

Aim of session: To build the capacity of all professionals working directly or indirectly in the health provision and/or domestic and family violence space to understand and identify forms of reproductive coercion and abuse in communities and health systems across Australia.
