    The BCcampus Fall 2023 Research Speaker Series offers BCcampus research fellows and scholars across B.C. post-secondary institutions an opportunity to learn and share knowledge and advocacy on research methods, approaches, and pedagogies when it comes to accessibility, access, Indigenous engagement, and equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in teaching and learning. 

    These sessions will allow you to learn and ask questions about new research directly from the researchers involved. 

    Sessions:

    • Session 1: September 19, 2023, 10:00 to 11:00 AM PT — Decolonizing Data: Unsettling Conversations about Social Research Methods, Dr. Jacqueline Quinless (UVic)

    • Session 2: October 31, 2023, 11:00 to 12:00 PM — A Participatory Design-Based Approach to Creating Design Principles for K-12 Online Learning in Canada, Dr. Elizabeth Childs (Royal Roads University)

    • Session 3: Nov 21, 2023, 11:00 to 12:00 PM — Centring Intersectional EDI in Research Practices and Approaches, Dr. Moussa Magassa (Mount Royal University)

    • Session 4: Dec 5, 2023,  11:00 to 12:00 PM — Creative Methods for Enabling the Participation of People with Disabilities in Research, Dr. Jane Seale (The Open University, UK)

    What you’ll take away:

    • Broaden your knowledge and research skills/capacity in the B.C. post-secondary context.
    • Learn more about research, Indigenizing research, EDI in research, decolonizing research, and accessibility.
    • Be inspired to participate in research communities of practice or explore the themes in your studies or work.
    • Connect with academics and community members who share your interests.
    Please Note: Each session will be recorded, captioned, and made available publicly on BCcampus.ca after the event. You do not need to register to view the recordings after the event.
