Entry instructions
ACMI is located at Fed Square, Melbourne, on Flinders St, between Hosier Lane and Swanston St. ACMI has two entrances: one on Flinders Street. The other in Fed Square in the cobblestoned plaza opposite the Big Screen. ACMI has lifts at every level of the building.
After entry instructions
One you are inside ACMI you will need to head to the Swinburne Studio. The Swinburne Studio is located next to the Cabinets of Courtesy on the Level 1 Foyer.
Hazards
The Fed Square entrance is located in the heart of Fed Square plaza, between Chocolate Buddha and Beer Deluxe. Please be aware that the Fed Square plaza is cobblestoned and may be difficult to navigate for visitors using mobility aids. We recommend you use the Flinders Street Entrance
Toilet location
Toilets are located on Ground Floor and Level 1. There are accessible and gender neutral toilets on both levels.
Hearing Loop
Free hearing devices are available for use in the ACMI Cinemas and Studios and can be borrowed on presentation of ID. Visit the Tickets & Information desks on Level 1 or Ground Floor to arrange. The devices come with headphones or connect with hearing aids via a neck loop. You can choose what you prefer.
Lifts
Ground Floor – Level 1 access only The Ground Floor lift is located between Tickets & Information desk and the entrance to The Story of the Moving Image exhibition. Ground – Level 1 & 2 access This Ground Floor lift is located behind the stairs opposite the bathrooms. You can access it by continuing down the corridor between Tickets & Information desk and the entrance to The Story of the Moving Image exhibition. This lift grants you access to levels 1 and 2.
Quiet Room
the Quiet room is located in The Board Room how to get there: As you exit the Swinburne studio you take a right, past the Gandel Lab. After the Gandel you turn left. It is the first door door on the right.

Travel by Train
ACMI is located in Fed Square, which is opposite Flinders Street train station. You can take any Metro train. ACMIs Flinders Street entrance is 150 M from the station.
Travel by Tram - Stop 13
The closest stops to ACMI are Stop 13 and 6. Stop 13 - Federation Square/Swanston St. The 1, 3, 5, 6, 16, 64, 67 or 72 tram go to this stop. ACMI Flinders Street entrance is 230 M from this stop.
Travel by Tram - Stop 6
The closest stops to ACMI are Stop 13 and 6. Stop 6 - Russell St/Flinders St. The 30 and 75 trams go to this spot. ACMI Flinders Street entrance is 120 M from this stop.
Travel by Bike
If you plan to cycle to ACMI, you can lock your bike to purpose-built bicycle racks installed around the perimeter of Fed Square, but you’ll need to bring your own lock. You can’t bring your bike into ACMI itself.
Travel by Car
Paid parking is available at the Fed Square carpark, located on the Russell Street Extension or via the second entrance off Batman Ave. It's a 2 minute (200m) walk from Fed Square car park to ACMI. There is also a Wilson Parking at 172/192 Flinders St, which is directly opposite our Flinders Street entrance.
