Description

What is a healthy man?

For generations, the answer was handed down without much question: provide, protect, don’t complain. That story has had broad and serious deleterious impacts on society, families and men themselves. In a period of schism where what that story means and represents is being questioned and requires changing, many men are left uncertain about what comes next and how to get to that place.

The cost of the current story is all around us. In rates of male suicide, in the the statistics of gender-based violence, in rates of crime perpetrated by men, in the proportion of men who are lonely, in the rise of a manosphere ideology that only makes individuals and our society even more unwell. Under all of these is a pattern of disconnection in boys and men - from family, partners, children, friends and themselves.

This is a night to discuss these patterns, to ask questions together and to realise that connection is the first step towards unity and change.

At this Supper Club, Finding Nature is gathering a small circle of men around one table with Daniel Principe, who has spent the past decade in more than 3,000 classrooms talking with young men about masculinity, respect and relationships. He sees what the next generation is learning about manhood, and he knows that boys become the men they see around them. Which brings the question back to us.

We’ll explore responsibility, not as burden but as care. Custodianship, of the people in our lives, the generations coming after us, and the places we belong to. Love, and the many ways men give and receive it, or struggle to. Friendship, and why so many men lose it after adolescence. And connection, the thread that runs through all of it, and the thing so often missing when things go wrong.

We’ll sit in the proverbial room of mirrors together and ask what it looks like to be a role model, a good partner, a good father, a good mate, in this moment.

There will be uncomfortable questions, and no one will be expected to have the answers. As is always the case at these evening there will be only honest conversation, and if one area of society requires honesty right now, it’s how men relate to the world around them and themselves.

This is a small, dinner-format conversation that will leave you feeling nourished, with a sense of belonging among like-minded (and hearted) men, and room to share wisdom in an intimate setting. Whether you’re a father, son, brother, partner, or still working out your own story, there’s a seat for you. Listeners will know Daniel from the Finding Nature podcast (episode 73); this is the chance to go further, together.

This is a men-only event.

Our special guest

Daniel is a youth advocate and educator who works with schools and communities across every Australian state and territory, helping young people recognise and resist distorted messages about bodies, relationships and sex. He has reached more than 110,000 students, around 95% of them boys.

He is an ambassador for the Australian Government’s Consent Can’t Wait campaign and was a 2025 NSW Australian of the Year nominee. Raised mostly by a single mother and moving often between states as a kid, Daniel grew up inside a “ladsy” culture that rewarded the wrong things, and has spent his career helping young men find a better way to be.

Why Finding Nature Supper Club
