Description

One song. Four parts. One Saturday morning.

Resonance Pop-Up Choir is back for a special pre-Christmas session. This time, we're singing Somewhere Only We Know by Keane, arranged for four-part SATB harmony (soprano, alto, tenor and bass).

No choir experience or music reading required. I'll teach each part step by step at the piano, and we'll bring everything together by the end of the morning.

It's a song many of us already know, so we can spend less time learning the melody and more time discovering the harmonies.

What to expect

  • A warm, welcoming space to sing. No auditions, no pressure.
  • A gentle body and voice warm-up.
  • Step-by-step tuition in all four vocal parts.
  • Printed sheet music provided.
  • Bringing the harmonies together, including the big build in the bridge.
  • Tea, water and time to connect with other singers.

FAQs

  • Do I need to read music?

No. Everyone gets printed sheet music, and I teach each part step by step from the piano. If you read music, great. If not, you'll pick it up by listening and following along.

  • I've never sung in a choir. Is this for me?

Yes. Most people who come haven't sung in a choir before. There are no auditions and nobody sings on their own.

  • How do I know which part to sing?

At the start we'll find a comfortable range for you, and you'll join the soprano, alto, tenor or bass group. If you're unsure, I'll help you choose, and you can swap during the session.

  • Do I need to prepare anything?

No. Listening to Somewhere Only We Know a couple of times beforehand helps, but it isn't necessary.

  • What should I bring?

A water bottle and comfortable clothes. We'll start with a gentle warm-up for body and voice. A pencil is handy for marking your music, but I'll have some there too.

  • How long is it?

Three hours, from 10am to 1pm, with a break. Doors open about 15 minutes early.

  • Where is it?

The Auditorium at Armadale Baptist Church, 88 Kooyong Rd, Armadale. If you have any access needs, get in touch and I'll make sure you're looked after.

  • Can I bring a friend or my kids?

Yes, it's open to all ages. Under-16s should come with an adult. The Duo / Pair ticket is a good option if you're coming with someone.

  • Is it okay if I just want to come and enjoy it?

Of course. Some people come to learn, some come to switch off and be part of the sound. Both are welcome.

  • What if I can't make it after booking?

Refunds are available up to 7 days before the event. After that, you're welcome to transfer your ticket to a friend.

  • I'd love to come but the cost is hard right now.

Please reach out. I'd love you to be there, and we can work something out.
