Construction Waste Resource Sorting Course

Tuesday, 15 July 2025 | 12:30pm – 4:30pm | Mitre 10 Mega, Wānaka

NORMALLY A COST OF $350, NOW AVAILABLE AT $150!!

Wao, in partnership with Mitre 10 Mega, BRANZ, Resource Sorter and the Better Building Working Group, is proud to host the Construction Resource Sorter Training – a practical course designed to help the building industry reduce waste and boost sustainability on-site.

Led by Sime of Pasifika Consulting, this training equips participants with the knowledge and skills to sort and manage construction waste efficiently, safely, and with care for the environment.

By learning to divert waste from landfill and understand the life cycle of construction materials, this training helps the industry step up to its responsibilities and unlock new value in what was once considered ‘rubbish’.

Construction and demolition waste is a growing problem

Construction and demolition waste accounts for approximately 34% of the overall waste generated in the Queenstown Lakes District.

That equates to an average of 309 tonnes of construction and demolition waste ending up in landfill per week*.

A large portion of this material could be diverted from landfill through the implementation of good design and onsite work practices focused on reducing, reusing and recycling.
