Respirator Fit Testing

What to do on that day?

1. Clean Shaving: Participants are required to be clean-shaven on the day of the fit test. This is essential for a proper seal and accurate fit of the respirator. Please refer to the instruction sheet for more details.

2. Item to bring: Please bring more than one mask type to your fit testing session, just in case the test fails on one of them.

3. Pre-Test Preparations: Please refrain from smoking, eating, or drinking anything other than water 30 minutes prior to your fit test. This precaution ensures the accuracy of the testing process.

4. Being punctual: A calendar invite with the individual fit testing schedule will be provided closer to the actual date. Each session is approximately 15 minutes long, and we kindly request that you arrive 2-3 minutes earlier than your designated slot, it helps in the efficiency of the testing process.

Notification of Unavailability: If you are unable to attend the fit testing on that day, we kindly request that you notify FEIT Safety Team (safety.feit@uts.edu.au), AND your Supervisor at your earliest convenience (more than 24 hours in advance). If possible, please make arrangements with a colleague to take over your slot. Please note there is a per person cost associated with carrying out the test, which FEIT Safety is covering, if you do not attend on the day of your fit test this results in a financial loss to UTS.
