Description

Come along to this 60‑minute workshop to refresh and deepen your knowledge of how to provide a trauma‑informed response to community members disclosing an incident of gender‑based violence.

Participants will learn how to use the disclosure tool and provide an initial response following a five‑step framework. They will also build their understanding of referral pathways within ANU and in the community. We will discuss the importance of a “soft landing” for survivors of gender‑based violence, and the roles of Student Safety and Wellbeing and the Staff Respect Consultant in supporting community members in distress.

If you don't have much knowledge of gender‑based violence, we recommend attending our two‑hour workshop first: Understanding Gender-based Violence and Responding to Disclosures.

This workshop will be in-person, though we may consider facilitating an online option in the future. If this is your preference, please email respect@anu.edu.au and we will do our best to accommodate!
