Responding to Family Violence
Responding to Family Violence incorporates content from NIFVS Introduction to Family Violence and Responding to Family Violence training. This practical, skills-based training equips participants with the confidence and strategies to:
Engage in safe and respectful conversations with people experiencing family violence
Respond appropriately to disclosures
Support safety planning
Work in partnership with victim-survivors
This training also introduces foundational approaches for responding to people who use violence, with a focus on recognising — and avoiding — collusion with violence-supporting narratives.
Designed for emerging practitioners, students, and professionals across diverse sectors, this training is ideal for anyone who may encounter individuals or communities experiencing family violence, whether or not it is the primary focus of their role.
At the end of this training, participants will develop tools to enable them to:
Identify when Family Violence may be occuring
Respond safely and effectively to victim-survivors of family violence
Develop a basic safety plan in partnership with victim-survivors
