This interactive evidence-based workshop helps participants to create culturally safe environments for older people and staff in aged care, by understanding how to identify and respond to cultural conflict.

Workshop details:

  • Who should attend: Managers and team leaders of home care providers in NSW/ACT
  • Cost: Free for home care providers in NSW & ACT (For managers and team leaders)

About the facilitator: 

Professor Bianca Brijnath is the Divisional Director of Social Gerontology at the National Ageing Research Institute. Her disciplinary training is in medical anthropology and public health and her research expertise is in cultural diversity, dementia, and mental health. She leads several national studies on dementia and cultural diversity and is involved in several international studies on the same topic. In recognition of her research, she was awarded the Victorian Young Tall Poppy Award in 2018.

About this Workshop: 

This workshop is being made available through the NSW/ACT Home Care Workforce Support Program funded by the Federal Government, delivered by SSI. The workshop has been organised by SSI Diversity Training. We provide learning experiences that transform how people respond to diversity in ways that are thought-provoking, inspire curiosity, and build confidence to engage more effectively with the culturally diverse communities. We support non-government, government, and corporate sectors to meet their inclusion goals. Our experience and expertise are grounded in SSI’s 20+ years of experience as a leading provider of services to multicultural communities.
