This interactive evidence-based workshop helps participants to create culturally safe environments for older people and staff in aged care, by understanding how to identify and respond to cultural conflict.

About the facilitator: 

Professor Bianca Brijnath is the Divisional Director of Social Gerontology at the National Ageing Research Institute. Her disciplinary training is in medical anthropology and public health and her research expertise is in cultural diversity, dementia, and mental health. She leads several national studies on dementia and cultural diversity and is involved in several international studies on the same topic. In recognition of her research, she was awarded the Victorian Young Tall Poppy Award in 2018.

About this Workshop: 

This workshop is being made available through the NSW/ACT Home Care Workforce Support Program funded by the Federal Government, delivered by SSI. The workshop has been organised by SSI Diversity Training.
