Event description

This 3-day retreat will be held in the protective spiritual ambience of the historic Dorje Ling retreat centre at Lorinna, deep in the forests of mid-north Tasmania (www.tashicholing.net/dorje-ling-retreat-centre). Facilitators: Kate MacNicol and Satyamo Roberts

The wonderful Zen teacher Thich Nhat Hanh taught of the concept of ‘interbeing’, the exquisite and sensitive interconnection between all forms of life. In the face of real ecological distress, is it no wonder we might be feeling a deep restless grief, a helpless rage in response to the rapid changes and environmental destruction all around our precious planet?

In offering this retreat, is it our intention to acknowledge these feelings, and to collectively lean into our personal experience and nourish the ground of renewal together, consciously gathering personal resources to support us on our way forward. This self-care may then enable and empower effective action to care for all life, including the generations to come.

Kristen Neff and other contemporary meditation teachers express the need for ‘fierce compassion’; by residing in spacious enquiry we will attend to softening, soothing and allowing, thereby seeking ways to embody and embrace that which is most difficult in these times.

The retreat program will be a combination of sharing, meditation and contemplation, embodiment practices such as yoga, movement, bodywork, sound-work and deep relaxation. There will be times of 'noble silence' ... mindfully experiencing/opening to the beauty of the present moment.

The food will be delicious, nourishing, and vegetarian. Participant numbers will be limited to 15, with single room accommodation.  Arrival time can be from 2pm on April 24th, the program commences at 5pm. At the time of booking, you will receive an email with further information about what to bring, driving directions, car-pooling etc, plus asking about food sensitivities, and medical needs.

The basic fee is $250. Both Kate and Satyamo offer their teaching as a service to humanity and all life on our planet ... but there will be the opportunity for 'dana', which is totally anonymous and voluntary; a chance to practice generosity and give thanks for the facilitation and guided sessions on this retreat. There will be more information about 'dana' in the post-booking email. If you are keen to attend but experiencing financial hardship, please 'contact the host'.
