Using the Restore and Renew webtool to guide seed sourcing for resilient restoration

The Research Centre for Ecosystem Resilience, Botanic Gardens of Sydney, invites you to a half day workshop on how to use the Restore and Renew webtool to guide seed sourcing for resilient climate-ready restoration.

Climate change and habitat fragmentation are affecting restoration success. The Restore and Renew webtool helps you plan your restoration project so it stays healthy for future generations.

This is an opportunity for restoration practitioners, planners and policy makers to learn how to incorporate genetic information and climate projections when planning restoration projects at all scales, from localised efforts on private land to large-scale government-led restoration.

Workshops will be held at various locations and will run from 9am until 1pm with an optional afternoon field activity on using the ReCER Field Collection app to collect seed provenance data for yourself or leaf samples for genetic analysis by ReCER. The app was initially designed to collect metadata for leaf samples destined for DNA analysis, but has been updated to also be used by seed collectors to record comprehensive and accurate seed provenance data in the field with ease.
