Event description

Introduction

The Wet Tropics Restoration Alliance invites you to join a workshop and field trip exploring restoration projects by Cairns Airport and Cairns Regional Council.

We acknowledge the Djabugay Nation and in particular the coastal Yirrganydji People, the Traditional Custodians of the land on which these projects and this event take place.

Part workshop, part field trip, the event will feature talks from Cairns Airport and Mangrove Solutions about an environmental offset site at Dunne Road, Cairns. With the Yirrganydji People as key project partners from the beginning, this project focuses on hydrologic restoration to promote natural mangrove recolonisation using cost-effective, scientifically validated methods.

Cairns Regional Council will also present on their Green Space Our Place program and the objectives of habitat restoration at Cattana Wetlands.

Following the morning talks at Barlow Park, participants will travel to the Dunne Road site to view on-ground works, then continue to the Cattana Wetlands.
