Andrea was born legally blind, but she never let that hold her back. She was full of energy and successful at what she did. Then, a shock diagnosis turned her world upside down. It meant she could no longer work and she found herself living in an aged care facility. After two years, she was able to leave and live independently but for someone with a disability and unable to work, living alone was lonely and difficult. Fortunately, Andrea’s support worker introduced her to ADRA. “The first time I walked in the door I knew I was going to be comfortable and happy,” Andrea recalls. It was the start of a new, connected, and meaningful life for Andrea. “Everybody needs somebody to help them. I just want to say thank you. I think I’m very lucky.” Amongst a team of amazing ADRA volunteers, Andrea found the support and purpose she needed. Thanks to people like you, Andrea found a place to belong.
Your support of this event will Help Build Belonging for people like Andrea. For more information or to read Andrea's story visit www.adra.org.au/adraappeal.
