Return to Work Coordination- Foundations for Effective Practice NSW

We are proud to welcome Jamie Travis, founder of Nth°Degree Sciences to our 2023 Employer Training Program.
With a limited number of places available for this one-day intensive workshop, this is a unique opportunity to take advantage of Jamie’s 30 years of experience and extensive knowledge of return to work (RTW) best practice.
This course provides an orientation to the workers compensation scheme in NSW, including the rights and obligations of employers and workers.
The focus is on the practical application of legislation and developing core strategies to help injured workers recover at work or return to work.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
Participants will be able to:
- explain how worker entitlements can support recovery and RTW
- devise strategies for working with injured workers and other key people
- explain how to provide suitable employment for an injured worker
- develop a Recover at Work/Return-to-Work plan
- explain the injury management rights and obligations of employers and workers, including the responsibilities of RTW Coordinators.Â
RECOMMENDED FOR
This is a level one event which would suit either newly appointed or aspiring return to work coordinators or those returning to the practice seeking to ‘refresh’ their skills.Â
This event is NSW specific.Â
DURATION
- one day
DELIVERY
The course will be delivered face to face. This session will start 9:00am and end at 3.30pm. Catering will be provided for the day.
Participants are also encouraged to register for Return to Work Coordination - Managing Complex Cases. This session is suitable for those who have completed ‘Return-to-Work Coordination – Foundations’ or an equivalent course and have had up to 6 months recent field experience with assisting one or more workers with returning to work after injury.
You are also encouraged to attend Return to Work Coordination - Advanced Theory and Practice when you have completed ‘Return-to-Work Coordination – Managing Complex Cases’ or an equivalent course or have at least 6 months recent field experience in assisting workers with returning to work after injury.
If you register for two out of the three courses you will be eligible for free 1 on 1 coaching with the facilitator, Jamie Travis.Â
RECOGNITION
Certificate of Course Completion awarded for up to 5.75 hours of professional development.
ABOUT THE TRAINER
Jamie Travis, Head of Health Policy and Professional Development, Nth°Degree Sciences
Jamie Travis has been training return-to-work coordinators in Australia since 1993 and, in the recent 20 years, he has co-authored introductory and advanced-level training courses in partnership with SIRA.
Jamie is a registered occupational therapist and health educator with 30 years clinical and field experience spanning neurology, acute and community mental health, and occupational rehabilitation.
From 1999 to 2002, Jamie was a senior officer with WorkCover NSW where he was engaged in the workers compensation scheme reform agenda.
In 2002, Jamie established Nth°Degree Sciences, through which he works with organisations in various industrial settings to improve the safety and quality of workplace health services.
Jamie’s special interests are neuroscience and pain education. He has research degrees in international relations and politics. His research interests include health system development in post-conflict societies.
