Reviving nature: wetlands of the Merri and western Victoria

Friends of Merri Creek is hosting a talk by Mark Bachmann, Managing Director of Nature Glenelg Trust. Mark undertook an important study for us about the restoration potential of burrung buluk (formerly Hanna Swamp) and produced three discussion papers about the wallan wallan wetlands as the centrepiece of the wallan wallan Regional Park.
Nature Glenelg Trust is a national leader in aquatic species conservation, waterway and wetland restoration work. NGT has restored the hydrology of several dozen wetlands and waterways across public and private land in western Victoria and South Australia. As well as presenting Mark’s restoration vision for the upper Merri catchment wetlands, he will describe and illustrate some of the Trust’s successful projects and one currently underway.
