    Farm Business Bootcamp: Understanding Farm Business Finances

    Main topics for workshop:

    • Analysing a farm business (cash, profit and wealth)
    • Analysing changes to the business (partial budgets, whole farm budgets, purchases)
    • Incorporating financial thinking into production decisions

      The day will be focused on understanding your farm business finances and using that information to make informed financial decisions. Agricultural economist Tristan Wardley, RFT member Naomi Palombi, and Warren Moore from Braddon Business Centre will be facilitating the day. Warren will also be available to promote the TBAS program which provides free business advice each year to small-medium businesses in Tasmania.

      What you will get out of the day:

      • The ability to analyse and understand the cash, profit, and wealth standing of your business
      • The ability to understand and prepare whole-farm budgets, partial budgets, and analyse purchases
      • Facilitated support to work through either YOUR farm finances or real examples individually within a small group

      What you need to bring:

      •    A pen and notebook 
      •    Your laptop, charged, and ready to go.

      The day is fully catered with coffee and pastries on arrival, morning tea, and lunch. 

      Please arrive in time for an 8AM start so we can finish in a timely manner.

      About the presenter:

      Tristan Wardley

      Tristan is an experienced economics consultant at RMCG. He has a Bachelor’s degree (with Honours) in Agricultural Science and a Master’s degree in Economics. Tristan is experienced in business and financial planning and decision analysis. He has a thorough understanding of business structural change, specialising in micro-economic investment and production decisions, with a particular interest and skill set in risk analysis.  

      Tristan will be leading the Farm Business Bootcamp.

      Warren Moore

      Warren provides business advisory services throughout the municipalities of Burnie, Waratah-Wynyard, Circular Head, West Coast and King Island as part of the TBAS (Tas Business Advisory Service) team through Braddon Business Centre. Warren has a Bachelor of Economics, a Diploma of Education, and experience as a secondary school teacher.  His experience and practical advice has helped many clients to establish and grow their business.
