Riccarton Community: Working together to improve biodiversity
Event description
The Riccarton community is poised to take action to improve biodiversity in backyards and greenspaces throughout the suburb. Login to this virtual panel discussion where we will be talking about a plan to trap predators in backyards, reserves and the UC campus, but also other initiatives aimed at enhancing biodiversity in the area. Attendees can also learn what biodiversity values exist in urban areas and how they can get involved in protecting and enhancing these values.
Panelists:
Jade Humphrey - Jade Humphrey is a geology PhD student at the University of Canterbury with a passion for nature. She helped set up Predator Free Riccarton.
Andrew McKaskell - Andrew is in his second year of a Bachelor of Environmental Science (Hons), as part of a career change after 15 years in software development. His main areas of interest are biodiversity and conservation, and he firmly believes there is still time to save the planet.
Professor Jim Briskie - Jim Briskie is a Professor at the School of Biological Sciences at the University of Canterbury with has a particular interest in the behavioural ecology of birds.
