Braw Gigs is over the moon to announce “An Evening with Richard Youngs” in Edinburgh on 23rd January. He will be performing two sets with an intermission at the Pianodrome in Bruntsfield. The show will be in the round utilising the natural sound and reverberation in the hall.
It goes without saying that Richard is probably one of the most enigmatic and fascinating underground musicians of the last 30 years, having cut his teeth initially in the Cambridge experimental scene in the early 90s before moving to Glasgow full time. He’s collaborated with the likes of Jandek, Damon & Naomi, Neil Campbell, the A-Band and countless others. You may have also seen him singing and playing keys in Glasgow supergroup AMOR with the likes of Michael Francis-Duch, Luke Fowler and Paul Thomson.
Our very first evening with Richard was way back in September 2011 in the Canon’s Gait Pub - so it’s only taken us 16 years to do another one. Here’s a rare chance to catch Richard performing two unique sets on a wintery Saturday night in the Capital, it'll be well worth the wait.
