Description

The Youth, Community Safety and Environmental Health teams at the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale are working together to bring you this FREE and exciting event in the October school holidays! Held in October every year, Community Safety Month is about improving the safety and wellbeing of our community. We're committed to empowering residents of SJ Shire to stay educated about the safety initiatives and resources available to them and also stay connected to one another to help build a kind and resilient community. You'll also find some helpful tips about school zones, graffiti removal, anti-theft screws, and more!

This event will lead into WA Mental Health Awareness Week. The Shire recognises WA Mental Health Awareness Week which is from Sunday 4 October to Sunday 11 October. During this week, and in the lead up, there'll be some mental health-related activities to help support and boost your wellbeing.

Freestyle Now is the world’s longest running action sports enterprise. We specialise in entertaining stunt show performances, skatepark and pump track coaching workshops, well managed skatepark competitions, motivational school presentations, and youth-oriented events and programs. Our all-inclusive approach caters to participants of all ages, skill levels, and disciplines: BMX, scooter, skateboard, and roller skates.

The open session is designed to activate the skatepark space as a community hub, fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment for all levels of experience.

The free coaching session will focus on the following:

  • Encouraging skatepark use in a fun, safe and inclusive way

  • General trick tips and progression guidance

  • Promoting skatepark etiquette and safety

  • Supportive guidance
