Right Use of Power - CORE Training
Description
Power is everywhere.
It shapes our relationships, our organizations, our communities, and the choices we make every day.
Yet power is rarely something we are taught to recognize, talk about, or work with consciously.
We may understand that power exists, but not always recognize how our roles, identities, relationships, histories, and systems shape the power we hold and the impact we have on others.
And the more power we hold, the greater our responsibility to use it well.
The Right Use of Power™ is a dynamic, relational approach to understanding and using power ethically. It offers a practical language for exploring the ways power operates within ourselves, our relationships, our organizations, and the larger systems we are part of, and for developing greater skillfulness in how we work with it.
Right Use of Power™ Core Training is an opportunity to go deeper.
Across 2.5 days, we’ll move beyond the foundational concepts of power into deeper reflection, exploration, and practice. We’ll examine the ways systemic and role-based power influence our relationships, explore the shadow sides of power, and build greater capacity to navigate the difficult and often messy human experiences that come with having (and being affected by) power.
This is not about becoming perfectly conscious or getting power “right.”
It’s about becoming more aware. More curious. More accountable. And more capable of recognizing what is happening when power enters the room.
Together, we’ll explore challenging interactions, conflict, feedback, intention and impact, identity and status, shame, emotional reactivity, and the ways our own experiences can shape how we use power.
Because using power well requires more than good intentions. It requires reflection, relationship, practice, and a willingness to look honestly at ourselves.
This immersive and experiential training combines engaging presentations, facilitated dialogue, individual reflection, practical tools, experiential practices, and opportunities to learn alongside others who are exploring their own relationship with power.
Come prepared to think deeply, get curious, have some uncomfortable moments, laugh, reflect, and see power - and perhaps yourself - in some new ways.
Please note: completion of a 5hr "basics" training from the Right Use of Power is a prerequisite for this program. If you have not attended a basics training, please reach out or register for this in-person training in Calgary on November 4th.

Jeff Couillard
I help organizations build leaderful teams - teams where power is used wisely, trust is practiced daily, and people are equipped to navigate the real tensions of modern work. My work sits at the intersection of leadership development, team facilitation, and organizational culture. I’ve had the privilege of supporting leaders at TC Energy, the City of Calgary and the Calgary Fire Department, Electronic Arts, Bayer, Hull Services, and other mission-driven organizations across sectors. I design and deliver learning experiences that are practical, participatory, and immediately operational - whether through executive workshops, keynote speaking, immersive team sessions, or long-term leadership development programs. My approach is grounded in the Right Use of Power, deep coaching practice, and over a decade of work in addiction and mental health, where clarity, compassion, and accountability are non-negotiable.
