The Early Doors Club at ST George's Church w/ Ríoghnach Connolly & Honeyfeet
Description
Ríoghnach Connolly & Honeyfeet, live at St George's Church
Friday February 19th, doors 5pm
Ríoghnach Connolly & Honeyfeet move with ease between swampy jazz, raucous brass, fractured funk, blues balladry and gorgeous folkloric textures. Connolly's powerhouse vocals lead the charge, blending mischief, protest and vulnerability into something fiercely human and utterly live, while the band, Lorien Garth Edwards on bass, Ellis Davies on guitar, John Ellis on keyboards, Biff Roxby on brass, and Phill Howley on drums, hold it all together with groove and genuine musical freedom.
At the heart of it is Ríoghnach Connolly herself, a voice equal parts fierce, tender and fearless, connecting ancestral song traditions with contemporary storytelling. Winner of the RTÉ Radio 1 Folk Award for Best Folk Singer and BBC Radio 2's Folk Singer of the Year, she joined Annie Lennox on stage at the Royal Albert Hall earlier this year for Sisters: Annie Lennox and Friends, sharing the bill with artists including Celeste and Nadine Shah.
A genuinely rare chance to see a voice of that calibre in a room this intimate.
