Event description

Hailing from New Zealand, artist Jason Parker presents his latest multi artform exhibition, RISE, RUIN, RENEW, REPEAT at The Stables at Meat Market in North Melbourne.

This captivating exhibition explores the duality of human nature—our capacity for destruction and our desire to transcend it.

Join us for Closing Night for a special performance featuring music by Daniel O’Toole, trumpeter Fabian Acuna and contemporary dancers who are subjects of the work.

Experience the vibrant and dynamic abstract paintings, where bold compositions and lively brushwork bring to life the interplay of colour, form, and texture. The exhibition extends to include oil paintings, concrete works, kinetic sculptures, short films, and an all-encompassing soundscape. Parker's work offers a sensory journey through his emotional and artistic exploration.

The unique warehouse-style space of The Stables, with its concrete floors and gable ceiling, will host this immersive exhibition across three areas. An urban environment with concrete and rubble creates a fragmented landscape that reflects both the resilience and impermanence of the cityscape. Here, Parker replaces canvas with concrete to symbolise the delicate nature of our society and the constructed environments we inhabit.

Visitors are invited to view an exhibition of works and explore a boutique shop featuring a selection of the artist's signature merch pieces, including a range of prints, tapestries and totes.

The 1.5 hour session allows guests time to view the works and enjoy the performance.

Tickets are limited.
