River City Jazz Orchestra

River City Jazz Orchestra makes its JMI Live debut, as part of the Brisbane International Jazz Festival.

This 19-piece ensemble will perform a program of imaginative and daring contemporary repertoire, delivering a compelling and diverse selection of composers, arrangers, and musical voices that expand the boundaries of the large ensemble jazz format.

The River City Jazz Orchestra is Brisbane’s newest large jazz ensemble co-led by Joel Sanchez-Carn and Max Irvin. Featuring 19 of Brisbane’s most promising emerging musicians, this orchestra pushes the boundaries of contemporary large-ensemble repertoire, with a focus on cutting-edge, provocative, and innovative material.

RCJO champions original works from Brisbane-based composers, presenting a compelling mix of emerging and established voices in the ‘concert jazz’ space.
