River Reflections: Black History Healing Circle
Event description
Join us for a special healing circle to welcome in Black History Month presented in partnership with Studio Kuumba. This informal gathering will provide a space to discuss Black history along the river and honor those who came before us in the watershed, Chesapeake Bay, and beyond. Together, we'll explore the rich history of Black watermen, the Maroons of the Dismal Swamp, and other significant stories that have shaped our community.
Engage in meaningful conversations and create your own mixed media collage project, combining collage and scrapbooking techniques, to create a watercolor of the Chesapeake Bay.
Come join us for an evening of reflection, creativity, and connection as we celebrate Black history and build a stronger, more informed community.
All are welcome – Suggested minimum donation $10 per attendee to support a healthy Elizabeth River though not required in our commitment to providing equitable access to our river-related programming.
