The Safe System approach for reducing and ultimately eliminating road trauma has been adopted by many countries; however, after some success we are now seeing road trauma data trends plateauing or even heading in the wrong direction. Many international organisations such as the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the World Bank recognise the significance of leadership and management as an enabler, or barrier, for successful implementation of the Safety System approach to reducing road trauma.
