Chai Chua - Expert Guest

Chai Chua's professional career spans over 39 years, the first 11 years with an international consulting and financial services firm and the last 28 years in healthcare. During his time in healthcare, he held local, regional and national senior executive roles in the New Zealand health system and was appointed to several Ministerial committees. From 2013 to 2018, Chai Chua was the Director General of Health and Chief Executive of the New Zealand Ministry of Health. Before this appointment, he was the National Director in the Ministry of Health responsible for sector funding, infrastructure investment, workforce development and delivery performance for District Health Boards. Before joining the Ministry of Health, Chai Chua was the Chief Executive of the Hutt Valley District Health Board.

Currently, Chua provides advisory and implementation support focused on three priorities:

1. Future health system - what does it look like, and how do we get there?

2. Developing leaders, we need.

3. Better care for our seniors.

Christina Gerakiteys - Host

Christina Gerakiteys is a catalyst for change.
