Actress and playwright Alexia Alexander's award-winning one-woman play "Robin Fly" will land in Washington, D.C., this coming March 8 at 6:00 PM at the Mexican Cultural Institute DC. The popular play, winner of the prestigious 2023 Monologando Ando Festival for Best Monologue Play in NYC, brings a unique and powerful story to the stage.
Approaching her thirties, a passionate yet failing actress embarks on an impulsive road trip to reunite with her eternal—almost boyfriend—convinced that this person is the love of her life and the solution to finally boost her artistic career. Along the way, she'll undergo a crisis that leads her to question why she can't manage to be happy, book a leading role, find love, and stop striving to be the flawless, the perfect girl society might have wished for. In the midst of this emotional whirlwind, an unexpected message will lead her to make a life or death decision.
The performance is presented in Spanish with English subtitles for all audiences to enjoy.
ABOUT ALEXIA ALEXANDER:
Trained in acting at the prestigious CasAzul in Mexico City and the International School of Theatre, Jacques Lecoq in Paris. She also studied playwriting and screenwriting at Laboratorio de Guion in Argentina. Her notable theatre credits include Dolores o la Felicidad (2015), Les Canailles (2017), and her acclaimed one-woman show Robin Fly (2022-present), which has won several awards including Best Monologue and Best Performance at the Premios Talía (NYC) and Fenix USA NY awards. In film, Alexia starred in El Jardín (2018) and played the lead role in the independent feature No, Gracias, Ya No Fumo (2023), the directorial debut of Mexican filmmaker Diego Toussaint.
Her television credits include supporting roles in Soulmates (2020), created by Emmy Award Winner Brett Goldstein (Ted Lasso), Harina (2021), La Rebelión (2022), The Head of Joaquín Murrieta (2023), and Nothing to See Here (2023). She will also appear in the upcoming Sony Pictures series Yo No Soy Mendoza (2025). Additionally, Alexia wrote, acted in, and co-produced the short film La Misión, which has been officially selected for the International Short Film Festival Shorts Mexico.
