Robinson College - Centenary Nursing Home, Halloween Month
Description
Robinson Community College / Centenary Nursing Home Lockdown
Robinson Community College has lived many lives — community college, tertiary campus, nursing home, and more. It is, I believe, one of Broken Hill’s only tertiary education auditoriums, making it an incredibly interesting site both historically and energetically.
But for me, one of the most fascinating parts of this location is its time as Centenary Nursing Home.
For this special four-hour lockdown, we’ll have the entire campus to ourselves as we explore the buildings and monitor any changes between daylight and night. We’ll also be looking at the phenomenon known as sundowning — something nursing home staff around the world will recognise, where people living with dementia or Alzheimer’s can experience a noticeable shift in behaviour, energy, confusion, agitation, or awareness as late afternoon moves into evening.
So the question is: does the building change too?
Can we detect a difference in the environment, energy, activity, or responses as the sun goes down?
This is a small-group investigation with access across the campus.
Please meet at 3:50pm at the Visitor Information Centre on Bromide Street.
Bring a warm jacket, wear sturdy shoes, and feel free to bring any investigation equipment you have or would like to use.
