Rock'n'Roll is a term used for dancing to music from the 50's and 60s... think Elvis Presley, Bill Haley & His Comets, the Cadillacs and more. The styles that will be covered in this group class are mainly 4 Step, but we will also look at 8 Step, and Freestyle Pub Rock.
Different dance communities have different names for these styles. Different groups also have different names for the same steps... but it's ALL Rock'n'Roll... and it's all fun!
These classes are for dancers who are new to dancing or at a beginner level, as well as those who know their basics and want to level them up!
Our focus will be on learning the basic steps, how to move them, how to lead and follow, and the techniques we use to make even our basics feel amazing! Even intermediate and advanced dancers benefit from recapping basic technique and style of movement to incorporate into their dancing!
Everyone is welcome to attend :-)
We support degendering in dance, so you can dance whichever role you choose: Lead or Follow.
Across Australia and the world, dance scenes are embracing that first and foremost we are ALL just dancers... enjoying social interactions and our love of music interpreted through movement.
Dancers are also embracing that knowing BOTH sides of any partner dance, makes your dancing better!
