Just when you thought our 40th Anniversary celebrations couldn't get any bigger, louder or more exciting, we're turning the volume up one more notch.
As part of Whitechurch Community Association's landmark 40th Anniversary celebrations, we are thrilled to welcome Dublin's sensational Rock of Ages to Whitechurch Community Centre on Saturday 22nd August for what promises to be a spectacular night of live music, energy and entertainment.
Taking to our specially designed open-air stage, Rock of Ages will bring a show packed with the biggest rock and pop anthems from across the decades. From songs that filled dancefloors to classics that still have people reaching for an imaginary microphone in the car, this is a night designed for singing, dancing and making memories.
Whether you're a lifelong rocker, an occasional shower singer, or someone who firmly believes they could have been a lead vocalist if life had only given them the opportunity, there will be something for everyone.
Of course, every great concert deserves a great opening act.
We're delighted to announce that Andrew Fletcher will be supporting.
The gates open at 6.30pm, giving everyone plenty of time to arrive, grab a bite to eat and settle in before the evening's entertainment gets underway.
A selection of food stalls will be available throughout the night, serving a variety of delicious options to keep concertgoers fuelled and ready for an evening of non-stop entertainment. Whether you're looking for a quick snack or something a little more substantial, there'll be plenty to choose from.
This event has been designed as a family-friendly celebration, and as with other events during our anniversary week. Instead, we're focusing on creating an atmosphere where music takes centre stage and where people of all ages can come together to enjoy a fantastic evening out.
There's something special about live music in the open air. As daylight fades and the stage lights begin to shine, the atmosphere changes completely. Friends meet up, neighbours catch up, families gather and before long an entire crowd becomes part of the show.
Some will be singing every word.
Some will claim they don't know the lyrics before somehow knowing every single line.
Others will be trying desperately to convince their children that these songs are "classics" and not simply proof that they themselves are getting older.
The beauty of a night like this is that it brings everyone together.
For forty years, Whitechurch Community Association has been at the heart of community life, providing a place where people can meet, celebrate and create memories together. This concert continues that tradition in style and is set to be one of the standout events of our anniversary celebrations.
And let's be honest, there's something wonderfully convenient about seeing a top-class live band perform right here in Whitechurch.
No long motorway journeys.
No wrestling with festival camping gear.
No spending an hour trying to find your car at the end of the night.
No explaining to your family why you thought walking five kilometres to "save time" was a sensible plan.
Just great music, fantastic company and an unforgettable atmosphere right on your doorstep.
Rock of Ages have built a reputation for delivering high-energy performances that keep audiences entertained from start to finish. Expect powerful vocals, incredible musicianship and enough crowd favourites to have people dancing from the first song to the final encore.
By the end of the night, there will be sore feet, hoarse voices and plenty of smiles.
The kind of smiles that come from spending a summer evening surrounded by friends, family and neighbours enjoying live music under the stars.
This is more than just a concert.
It's another chapter in the story of a community that has spent forty years bringing people together.
It's a chance to celebrate everything that makes Whitechurch special.
And it's a chance to be part of an anniversary year that people will be talking about long after the stage lights have gone out.
Please note that entry is strictly for ticket holders only.
Tickets are expected to be in high demand, and once they're sold out, there won't be a second encore performance the following night.
So gather your friends, organise the family group chat, mark the calendar and prepare for a fantastic evening of live music.
Join us on Saturday 22nd August for Rock of Ages, special guest performers, delicious food and an unforgettable night as we continue celebrating 40 incredible years of Whitechurch Community Association.
The stage is set.
