Rock Stars from Outer Space
Event description
Meteorites have been front page news in recent years, with many citizen science projects assisting to recover samples as quickly as possible for analysis by scientists.
In this presentation, Planetarium Director Peter Felhofer explores their origin and scientific significance before reviewing the Fireballs Aotearoa project to detect and recover new arrivals. With just 10 confirmed samples in Aotearoa to date there is much to be learnt from every new sample found.
This is a special presentation co-hosted by Northland Astronomy and the Whangarei Rock and Gemstone clubs. Admission to club remembers is free, please contact your secretary for booking details.
