Join us for a Rockpool Ramble and tour of the Queenscliff Marine Discovery!
Led by the wonderful team at the Marine Discovery Centre, we will meet up at 10:30AM at the Rip View Lookout in Point Lonsdale. We will start by exploring the beautiful rockpools nearby which are a marine protected area and part of the Great Southern Reef. Species we could discover include..
- Crabs
- Fish
- Sea Urchins & Anemones
- Star fish
- Sea Cucumbers
- Octopuses & many more!
After a splash in the pools we will drive to the Marine and Freshwater Discovery Centre (2A Bellarine Hwy, Queenscliff 3225) for a tour. The Centre is situated on Swan Bay and next door to the VFA Research Facility and Deakin Queenscliff Labs. We will get to view the great marine and freshwater display tanks on-site and hold some cool critters in the touch tank. The tour will include topics such as sustainable fishing practices, marine conservation and responsible water usage.
Make sure you wear warm, comfortable clothing and sturdy shoes you are happy to potentially get wet!
