Event description

Rock pool Ramble

Learn about Victoria’s amazing marine life as you explore the magical rock pools of the Bunurong coast at low tide.

About this event

Meet in the Discovery Room at the Bunurong Environment Centre corner of Ramsey Blvd and The Esplanade in Inverloch.  After a brief introduction to the incredible variety of life on the Bunurong coast and to some of its unique creatures, you will visit the extensive rock platform at Flat Rocks about six kilometres away.  With your expert marine guide you will explore the rock pools and crevices for its abundant life: crabs, anemones, sea stars, small fish, elephant snails and a ‘garden’ of colourful seaweeds and seagrasses.  We might be lucky to see a foraging octopus or our largest sea star!

Participants will need their own transport.  Wear shoes suitable for walking on sharp, slippery rocks and be aware they will probably get wet.  Warm clothing will be needed in cooler weather and sun protection should be worn.  A towel and change of clothes may be required.

Please Note:

  • All attendees including adults accompanying children, children under 5 years old and infants must purchase a ticket.
  • Tickets for children under 5 yrs old and infants are free.
  • Groups may be up to 25 people.
