Title: Leaders in Civil Engineering present the challenges and opportunities which they/their organisations face and the role that civil engineering plays in their work environment.
Join us on Monday 26 May 2025 for the Roderick Distinguished Lecture, in which we will hear from James Sherrard, NSW Building Commissioner.
James Sherrard is the NSW Building Commissioner. He has worked in the construction industry for the past 30 years most recently spending three years with Transport for NSW. Prior to this, James worked in the private sector as a consultant and project manager in the civic, residential and commercial sectors. In addition to his work in Australia James has spent more than a decade delivering projects in Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
James will cover insights from his career in engineering focusing on his career journey as the NSW Building Commissioner. He will outline the role of the NSW Building Commissioner including key observations, challenges, and opportunities within the building sector in NSW. He will highlight how the role of engineering education can be used to improve building in NSW.
