General information

Travel instructions

There is no public transport to the event. We encourage sharing rides with your family and friends. Please choose a designated driver if you plan to drink, or plan a taxi home.

Entry instructions

The event is held on the courts of ALAC, with entry through the glass doors. When you arrive, make your way up the hallway toward the courts and present your ticket (on your phone is just fine no need to print) and you'll be able to access the venue. There is a bar, snack bar and food van onsite. Please no BYO alcohol as this is a licensed venue. We accept companion cards.

After entry instructions

Seating: There is accessible seating as you enter the track area to your left near the bar. There will be extra space around the seats. And the ability to move seats for those who use a wheelchair or other mobility aid. ALAC is cold, and the seats are metal or plastic, so bring a rug or warm clothing to wear at the event. We have bench seating, plastic chairs AND track-side floor seating. You can bring a bean bag, cushion or low chair to sit trackside (the best seats in our opinion) Vision: There is a scoreboard that shows the point, time, and lead jammer status. There are printed booklets and digital booklets with game information and please check our event page for the videos of how the game is played, points scoring, and penalties.

Hazards

Noise: Roller Derby is a noisy sport, there will be a PA system playing music, two MCs for the games as well as a lot of whistles and wheels screeching on the floors. If you use noise-cancelling devices like headphones or earbuds we advise bringing them along. We do not have a dedicated ‘quiet space’ but the hallway where you enter can be used at any time for some quiet time, this has comfortable lounges and will be away from the loud game. You will not need a pass out, you can access this space any time you need. Lighting: There will be no strobe lighting

Toilet location

Please note the only Universal Access Toilets (both Left and Right-hand rails) are located off Courts 5-7 away from the game location. We will have some signage to help direct and the lights will be on those courts to help guide you. There are toilets in the main hallway (before the ticket desk) but no UAT.

Accessible parking

There are 4 ACROD parking spaces at the front of the venue, with a concrete paved pathway to the front doors of ALAC. It is 50 m to the main doors of ALAC which are electric sliding doors. From here, a carpeted indoor corridor leads you to the court area where the game will be held. Parking: There are two main car parks at ALAC with free parking that is well-lit at night. There are limited taxis. There are no Buses.

First Aid

First Aid: 2 St Johns Ambulance Volunteers are onsite and can be used by members of the public during the event. Please chat to any of our volunteers if you need assistance on the night and we can make the space more comfortable and welcoming for you.
